A single-herb liquid extract of dried bark of Eucommia ulmoides, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Eucommia is the only living species in its entire family, with no close relatives anywhere, and it has a test no other tree passes. Tear a leaf slowly, or snap a piece of bark, and fine white rubbery threads stretch across the break and hold — a gutta-percha-type latex that runs through the whole plant. That is the identification, and buyers of du zhong bark check for it by breaking a piece and looking for the threads.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Eucommia may lower blood pressure; speak to a practitioner first if you take medication for it.

If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
